JOB DESCRIPTION

Accountant I

This is a professional level accounting position with work performed in accordance with established procedures and regulations. An employee in this position performs moderately complex duties in account maintenance, requiring the application of professional accounting techniques. The employee exercises considerable judgement in planning and carrying out assignments that require knowledge and skills in the areas on analysis, auditing, and accounting. Responsible for the preparation of journal entries and account management, reviewing financial statements, and reconciling different company account balances. 

JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the preparation of journal entries and account management, reviewing financial statements, and reconciling different company account balances.
  • Research any monthly anomalies during financial statement review.
  • Track and pay incoming shipments from vendors.
  • Bill out shipments to customers.
  • Track inventory and document variances.
  • Other related tasks and project assignments.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERTISE

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with specialization in finance, accounting, auditing, business administration or closely related field, including or supplemented by a minimum of fifteen semester hours in accounting is preferred but not required.
  • 1-3 years of experience with general ledger accounting.
  • Knowledge of financial analyses and accounting procedures are essential.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is desired.
  • Possess ability to analyze financial statements.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, owners, auditors, and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Requires excellent organizational and time management skills.
